My Story: 365 day blog challenge Day 69 Beauty in Nature

365 Day Blog Post Challenge 2019
Day 69
278. What is the most beautiful thing to you in nature?

For me, the most beautiful thing in nature is water.  I find that I am most at peace mentally and physically when I am around water.  It does not really matter if it’s the ocean, a lake, a river or a waterfall, there is just something very soothing about seeing and hearing water.

I am fortunate that I live so close to the pacific ocean. Some of our favorite places to visit give me the opportunity to spend time near the water often.  I love the sound of the waves crashing against the rocks and watching the water come up on the beach.  We try and take a day trip to Santa Cruz every year and we usually go to Monterey/Carmel several times a year.  If it were not for the fact that I burn to a crisp so easily, I could probably sit on the sand and just listen and watch the water for hours on end.  One of my favorite places for us to camp is in Capitola at New Brighton Beach.  It is on a bluff just above the ocean, so at night, as you are falling asleep in your tent, you can hear the waves pounding.  It is one of the most soothing things I have ever experienced.

We like to go out bicycle riding often and many of the rides that we take are near the water.  It helps me when we are on one of our 25 mile rides to have something soothing to look so that I can be a little distracted from the ride itself.  The problem is, I want to stop ever 2 minutes to take pictures.  I try to restrain myself as much as possible, but I do have to get in some shots throughout the ride.  Not only do I get some great pictures, but it also gives me a chance to take a little much needed break.

Rivers are also amazing.  We were fortunate enough to recently camp in the California Mother Lode at a place called Roaring Camp Mining Company which is located at Clinton Bar in Mokelumne River Canyon.  The camp sites were next to the river so just like camping next to the ocean, I was able to listen to the water run over the rocks late at night when I was falling off to sleep.  Very peaceful!
