365 Day Blog Post Challenge 2019
333. What are you thankful for?
It seems that the things we are thankful for often change as we grow. I know for myself, what I am thankful for today have probably changed some as I have aged and became more aware of the things that are really important in life. 20 years ago I may have said that I was thankful for having a closet full of clothes or a new car. Today, those things mean nothing to me. What I am thankful for now are those things that cannot be purchased. Having recently received some devastating news about my health, the things I am thankful for on this particular day are probably even different then they would have been just a few weeks ago.
I am thankful for my husband. Sometimes it takes something challenging to happen in your life to realize the true extent of what someone will do for you. For the past 15+ years, this man has been everything to me. He is the first to give me praise when I’ve accomplished something, but is also the first to encourage and even push me when I’m afraid to venture out of my comfort zone. He makes me feel like I can be a better person and because of that, he has helped me see that I have strengths in me that I never knew existed. This past few weeks has been very difficult for the both of us. When we received the call that I had Complex Atypical Endometrial Hyperplasia, he was right there by my side to hold me and help me get through the initial shock. He was there to preach and give me encouragement that this is something that we are going to get through with a positive attitude. Yet, he has still allowed me the time to cry and to just hold me when I have been sad and scared. It’s amazing his ability to know when to let me cry and when to make me laugh and everything in between. He is my hero and I cannot imagine trying to get through this upcoming ordeal without him there by my side.
The next few months are going to be some of the most difficult times of my life. I am thankful he will be there with me every step of the way.
He truly is my best friend and I am thankful for everything about him.
I have the strength to get through all of these challenges because I know he is there to help me fight and when I’m just to weak, I know he is strong enough to fight for me. For that I am more than just thankful… I am grateful.
To My Husband,
Thank you for being you.
