247. What should you change about yourself?
What should I change about myself? I think it would be quicker to list the things I shouldn’t change because the list of things to change is much longer. I could go on and on with all the things I would like to change about myself, but I’ll keep it to my top three.
1.) My outlook: I tend to see the glass as half empty. I wish I could change my outlook on life so that I see things on a more positive note. Life would be a much happier place if I didn’t see the negative in everything and could focus more on the positive.
2.) My need for shopping: Although I have gotten much better just in the past year, I need to change my desire to shop. I have a small addiction to online shopping. The majority of the things I purchase are not things that I need which makes the shopping even more of an issue. What happens is I end up impulse buying and then half of what I purchase never even gets used and I end up giving it away or selling it (for way less then what I paid).
3.) My weight and my addiction to food: This should probably have been #1 on my list. I’ve struggled with weight issues for over 25 years. Part of the reason is that I am an emotional eater. When I get stressed or am feeling anxious (which is all the time), I often turn to food as a way to cope. It doesn’t necessarily have to be unhealthy food. My issue is that I have no willpower with portion sizes. I have a need to eat until I have that overly full feeling. I need to change my mindset so that I eat to live, no live to eat.
I imagine we all have things about ourselves that we would like to change. The problem is that we all know what we need to change, but we often don’t want to put in the effort to make the changes.
